Edwin Castro, who won the record-breaking $2.04 billion Powerball lottery prize in November 2022, has made his second big purchase since his win.
Powerball $2 Billion Jackpot Winner
He recently spent $25.5 million on a mansion in the Hollywood Hills and has now invested in a 4,300-square-foot renovated midcentury-style residence in the city of Altadena,
close to where he bought his winning lottery ticket. According to Zillow, the home was sold for $3.98 million and features five bedrooms, five bathrooms, Japanese-inspired architecture,
and a pond, saltwater pool, and zen garden. The single-story property has modern amenities including a theater, studio, and a two-car garage with an electric vehicle charging station.
The Hollywood Hills mansion, which he previously purchased, boasts five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and over 13,000 sq. ft. of living space.
Built by Roman James Design, the house features luxurious amenities and exquisite finishes, such as a gaming room, wine cellar, movie theater, fitness studio, sauna, and steam shower room.
Despite his lavish spending, Castro is currently facing a lawsuit disputing his lottery winnings. After several months of waiting, it was announced that he had won the grand prize.
However, another man, Jose Rivera, claimed to be the rightful winner of the Powerball jackpot, stating that he purchased the ticket one day before the winning numbers were revealed.
Rivera alleged that the tickets were stolen by an individual referred to as "Reggie" in the documents.
Despite the lawsuit, California Lottery officials have maintained that Castro is the rightful winner of the $2.04 billion prize.
Overall, Edwin Castro's recent property investments have garnered significant attention, given his newfound wealth and the ongoing lawsuit over his lottery winnings.
However, his properties' luxurious amenities and finishes are a testament to his newfound financial status.
